Kenwal Legacy
A history of strong, family leadership

Being an industry leader
starts with the right leadership
Kenwal Steel was founded by Sol Eisenberg in 1947. Since then, delivering superior flat-rolled steel has always been a family mission. The Kenwal family has grown to include leading metallurgists and engineers, operations innovators, supply chain experts and highly skilled steel processors. We are all unified by our intense focus on perfecting flat-rolled steel supply chains in ways that help our customers thrive.

Many years of profitable growth and expansion
Under the leadership of Sol’s son, Kenneth Eisenberg, Kenwal Steel has grown to be one of the largest steel distributors in North America and consistently among the Top 50 Service Centers list. Eisenberg joined the company in 1964, and helped dramatically expand Kenwal’s presence in many manufacturing segments including automotive, electronics, appliances, and major equipment manufacturers.

The tradition of excellence continues
In November 2020, Stephen Eisenberg was appointed Chairman and CEO of Kenwal Steel, after serving as Burns Harbor President.
Stephen joined Kenwal in 1992 and took leadership of our Gary, Indiana facility in 1996. Under his management, Stephen’s team opened our nearby Burns Harbor service center in 2004, then our service center in Lebanon, Tennessee in 2007.
“Stephen has been instrumental in growing Kenwal to the industry-leading position we know today. He’s prepared to lead the company for years to come,” said Stephen’s father, Kenneth Eisenberg. “Stephen is highly regarded in the industry. We have total confidence that he’ll continue the long family history of the highest quality steel and unmatched levels of service for our customers.”
